As you may already know, at the recent league AGM, the league adopted the ECB directive to ensure that all clubs have a welfare officer. At the same meeting I volunteered to be the league welfare officer (sucker). Anyway, from next April a club will not be able to take part in the league if they do not have a crb cleared Welfare Officer (and its compulsory to have an ECB CRB I'm afraid, even if you already have one from another source, sorry!!!).

Hence I need an update on the current status of all club welfare officers.

I have sent out emails to the club contacts I did have, but haven't had many replies yet. This is very time consuming for me, so could you check within your own clubs', and where no one has alerted me to their Welfare Officer status, do so. Ideally I'd like email contacts for all Welfare officers, i can then pursue each case from there.

Please let me know ASAP, as I know I've got lots and lots of clubs to get up to the required standard by April.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, if I don’t know the answer, I've got access to staff at the ECB who will do.

Paul,

As this is critical I have moved it to the front page of the site. Please let me know if there is any other help you think the site may be able to give. My own thoghts are that it would be a good idea to post a list of clubs that have not responded. Name and Shame? at least then we may be able to reach some people who have some influence with the clubs concerned.

Anyone with questions regarding what this is all about please ask your questions here. Paul Elby or myself should be able to answer them for you.

(Pau,l I have had to repost this. for some reason the original message did not format correctly. If you have subscribed to you original post please also subscribe to this one)

pelby@brewin.co.uk or nazeingccc@yahoo.co.uk

About 15% of clubs have responded so far.

I have obtained details of a time to listen course that Keith (county welfare officer) is running at essex. Demand may be high so get in quick to get qualified.

The next Time To Listen Welfare Officer Training Course will be held at the County Ground on the evening of Friday 24th February.

Anyone wishing to attend the course should contact Keith Turner to book a place.
