Could anyone please advise whether clubs need to contact their opponents for this Saturday's first league match to check whether they are compliant or not?
No, there is no need to contact the opposition for your league fixtures either this week or in the future. The proof of a clubs compliance has to be given to the league committee, in particular Paul Elby our CWO Liason officer. I know he has made numorous contacts to all clubs throughout the winter months and has kept the committee upto speed on the situation. He has in short done a full and thoroughly professional job and has been instrumental in getting us to this point.

What point are we at?? As far as I understand it we are near to complete with all clubs. There a a few instances where clubs have met obsticals beyond their control. Where this is genuinely the case the league are likely to allow them further time to acheive compliance. I would state again there are very few instances where this is the case. The league are to meet this week to examine the situation and after that any announcement will be made. So please be patient.

Good post Nick, i asked this question last week and was put in my place, but as you say, do we have to ask the captain of the day, or is there something they should bring as proof?
Bearski, I assume you are talking about THIS (http://www.hecl.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=PNphpBB2&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=152&forum=3&start=0) thread? If so then no you don't have to do anything if your club is covered. Should the league committee decide that a club hasn't made any effort to comply and has to be excluded then your club would be notified and any decision will be posted here.

If the information seems to be coming through late then it is down to two things. First the deadline goes right up to this week and it would be hard to publish any decision before the deadline has passed. Second, we can read into it that the league and all the clubs within it have made great progress in acheiving their targets. So well done to all.

I am fairly sure that we are the first league in Herts and Essex to acheive the level laid out by the ECB, and quite possibly one of the first in the Country. That is something we can all be very proud of.

The league committee met last night to examine the current status of the league and its member clubs with regard to the requirement for every club to have a nominated and certificated Child Welfare Officer. The findings of the committee are outlined below.

Of the 44 clubs that comprise the league, 42 had met the requirement.

The remaining 2 clubs were asked to attend the meeting so that their situation could be assesed. In both circumstances the clubs had nominated CWO's with current CRB checks but had failed to complete the required courses to reach the ECB level of compliance. It was agreed by the committe that both clubs had genuine reasons for this.

The committee ruled that the clubs must enrol on the next available course in July and ensure that their nominated CWO attend. The committee require that proof of enrolment be provided by Friday 5th May. Failure to do this would result in sanctions against them later in the season.

Consequently the league committe are satisfied that every club has met the required level.

Your committee would like to thank all those that have given their time and effort to get us to this stage, both club and committee members.

Alternatively, should team captains raise the question on Saturday at the match venue before the teams walk out onto the pitch?

Some teams may wish to adjust their team selection, batting & bowling order if they know in advance that the match is a friendly.

cheers...

i think the league should tell the affected team(s )well before hand if their oppo isnt up to date with the cwo issue. i'm shaw i am not the only person who works weekends and has to take a days holiday to play the beautiful game. and i'm shaw that i'm not the only person who would be a bit angry/upset that i wasted a days holiday to play a friendly. :-)
