I'm not a Roding Valley Player, I play for Westmill. So why have you listed yourself as Roding Valley member when you registered?

paul

seb, thanks for directing me towards the website link formally known as westmill
seems mr jones truly impartial repoting was not to everyones liking. That was me that removed the link. It was removed because of profanity on the home page. We have a lot of colts and members from various ethnic origins to whom profanity is deeply offensive. The content of the sites reports is not offensive to me, neither does it appear to be very funny :-? They wouldn't pass the editorial test here but thats another thing.

hey seb how you coping with no paul for next two weeks mate Be honest Dai, its you thats crying into your cider at the club for the next week in the knowledge that your experienced batting partner and coach, as well as wet nurse on tour, is going to be missing ther next few games. Just to let you know us Kernow folk are still planning an invasion across Fastnet to recapture the Valleys for Gods great Country of Wessex. Had a few cold shivers as I drove past on the M5 but their gone now I'm safely home in Kernow. See you in a few weeks.

I've asked Paul to place a match report on the site for me but if he's unable to do so, I'll copy it onto this forum. Its done. I'm off to the beach again. Yesterday our Dads XI wooped the Mothers and Kids XI and they think they can take us today :-D  All back to normal next week I promise. Thanks for your patience

Nazeing and Thaxted must have had good bowling sides, or a wicket that favoured the bowlers with such a low scoring game. Typical Thorley luck to see Rickling's form improving, just coming up to when we play them!!

Dont suppose you could stick that guy who made 106* and 86* not out back in the seconds this week pls mate haha.
We travel to the Valley against the 1st 11 this sat looking forward to another great game of cricket. :-P

Nice title mate - am a sensing a little jealousy here perhaps?

Saturday - don't ask mate!!!! Westmill are a strong side, and we really are missing Umar. That being said, some idiot bought back S Lander to bowl at the death (again), and it didn't work out (again)!!!

Batting - the wicket got a heavy shower on it and made it difficult to bat on. Combined with a few silly shots, a peach from Des Kelly, and a lovely run-out, we could have been bowled out VERY cheaply. Luckily Adi Adnan (24), Dave Lander (21) and Gourav Shri (30 n.o.) came in at number's 8, 10 and 11 respectively and gave us some element of respectability. Still a thrashing though.

What happened with you guys?

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
U talking about Brian Powell there mate? Can't think of any other bowlers in our side that are a single pound over weight!!

By the way, which RV player are you?

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
hows it going taffers?
you see both nazeing AND thaxted got beat this week? (see the westmill site [ EDIT:LINK REMOVED. Google westmill cricket if you want to find their site. They are no longer linked to from this site. See this link (http://www.hecl.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=PNphpBB2&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=200&0).... for info on the thaxted defeat).

we got hammered again. i chose to bowl first (another great decision) and we let them get far too many (253 all out) - drop catches, poor fielding, crap bowling etc etc (usual story).

batting wise - we had sent the guy that got 86 n.o. against you (thorley) to the first's this week (he made 106 n.o. in another match winning innings - congratulations Bhavin) and another of our top performing bats, and really missed them both - poor shot selction, bad running and lack of depth left us 107 all out.

buntingford were better than us on sat, without a doubt. but i think we played rubbish to be honest, and could have been a lot better than 107 all out

how about u guys?

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
Potter - when I got off the phone to him Sat night I texted the skip to tell him i'll be having him back for next week's game, I can't post the response, but I'm almost sure it was a no!

Yea should be a good game, especially since Bengeo lost at the weekend, kind of opened things up a little in div 4 I recon?

Taff - I think he's gona for good now to be honest, he's too good for the 2nd's I'm sure of that.

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
So a hard run in for you guys? And if you dont win them all, it'll open things up further.
Should be an interesting few weeks then!!!

Paul - thats definately one of our players - bit of an in house joke there mate, he was refering to himself when saying I should bowl the big fellow :-)

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
LOL about impartial reporting - he was in fact very kind to us so I have no problems ;-)

you say some people weren't happy with it? why did u say that? i couldn't see anything on the site indicating otherwise when i just checked

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
but apparently he is from Yorrrrkshire!!!
- Yes I've heard that nasty rumour about Jonesy as well!!!
Jonesy, care to comment on that or on any of the events on saturday?

As you say, I think it is good that you have both been beaten, because it makes for a more intriguing finish to the season. At one stage it looked as though you guys would never be under any pressure. But now the loser of next week's game will be under immense pressure not to slip up to be 100% sure of promotion, which can only be good for the league in general. :-)

and yeah I'd like to say pretty much everyone I've come across in div 6 enjoys there cricket - now whether thats down to my bowling or catching practice games I cannot be sure, but I've not come across many players that have acted in a hostile manner at all :-)

hey seb how you coping with no paul for next two weeks mate
It's hard, but I think I will survive. Do you like bouncers Taff? :-P

Regarding div 6, I think it's going to be Nazeing, Bishop's Stortford and Thaxted, in that order.

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
bouncers? as long its serverd up on a plate me likes it.
- don't worry mate, mine are definately there for hitting - just ask the guy that edged me all around the ground last time we played :-D

SebRV
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
hows it going Taff - see you won convincingly at the weekend, well done mate.

We lost to rickling by 18 runs :-( - was a good game but we felt we should have won it (only had 10 men as well - not making excuses)

Morning chaps,

Yes, it's true, I'm a fully fledged Yorkshireman. We at Westmill love our cricket and really enjoying playing and having a good time. Unfortunately, there are 1 or 2 players in Division 6 who think they are playing County cricket and take the whole thing far too seriously and , therefore, don't think we should be enjoying ourselves. We realise, we are playing village cricket which is competetive (which is great) but we don't take it too seriously. After last years poor performance we, as a team, had to re-build and I think we done a fairly good job and division 6 was the right place to do it. I think we'll be pushing for promotion next year so the good news is. . . we get to play you guys again! Good luck for the weekend.

Regards, Jonesy

Paul,

I've now put a post at the top of the homepage regarding swearing, if you want to look. The reports on the site are very funny, most are in house jokes (as it's our website) however, send me a list of what you don't get and I'll explain them for you!

:-D

And our (Nazeing) first team were fully loaded with all the big boys, whilst of course the real core of the club (2's) got a draw against a far stronger and not overly friendly Rosslyn team, one of the juniors got an unbeaten 50 too. Come on first teamers, sort yourselves out, and if you need any batting lessons, young Mike is on hand to help.

Errrr, sorry not in this case coach, but if they need lessons in 5 wicket hauls, i'll point them your way

Seb/ Taff

Sorry for intruding on Paul/ Sebs kissing corner!! Is it me or is the 6th Div far friendlier than the other Divisions on this forum?

Anyways, yes we (Nazeing Common) suffered our first comeuppance of the season at the mighty Bishops Stortford 3 1/2 XI and coincidentally Thaxted lost at Westmill, which still makes for an intriguing fixture on Sat (Thaxted v us). However, what it also shows is that as I'd said previously, there are about 4 or 5 teams in Div 6 that are capable of beating each other.

One of the reasons for joing the H.E.C.L. was to have more competitive games and so far we've had more competitive games than we had playing friendly cricket!

PS Seb, I think you'll find Jonesie sort of lost the plot for one weekend and upset a few people but apparently he is from Yorrrrkshire!!!

Evening fellow Div 6ers

Taff. I think you're right about being new and keen to this Div, which has just got a lot tighter as a result of last weekends games. This weekend pits first against second and third against fourth, so some of the other teams (Buntingford possibly) may benefit from that. The weekend after, Thaxted have to go to Bishops Stortford, so things are getting interesting!!!

Jonesie. Good to see you on here fella. Glad to see you've sorted your "profanities" out, as even when your link was knocked off, I still enjoyed a gander at your site!! I'll see thee!

Seb. Thanks for the compliment "Regarding div 6, I think it's going to be Nazeing, Bishop's Stortford and Thaxted, in that order". We'll try and prove you right on Saturday, when hopefully we should be a bit stronger than last week (hope you're not reading this Kevin!!).

Taff. As for Teas. Yours were very good, as were RV's but undoubtedly best Teas of the League Div 6 so far were Stortfords on Saturday. That said even they didn't come close to being as good as Elsenhams on a Sunday earlier this season! Maybe, we should have a best Tea of the season award?????? Sturds

Afternoon Div 6ers

Thaxted v Nazeing was a fantastic game of cricket to play in and as you rightly say was dominated by the bowlers. I've asked Paul to place a match report on the site for me but if he's unable to do so, I'll copy it onto this forum.

Thaxted take on BS in a couple of weeks time and I think we play Westmill the same day, which will be interesting, as it's certainly getting tight at the top, cheers. Sturds

HEY SEB
what happened on sat mate?

TAFFLON
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
tail has saved our blushes a few times this year same as you on sat mate.
in our game we let buntingford get away from us a bit. at 148 for9 we thought we were on top. but some great clean striking of the ball by their no. 9 + 11 meant they posted 212. same as you rain came and slowed outfield and track. put together with a few rash shots and some idiot named paul thinking he's linford cristie between the stumps. when hes more like tony cristie(except without the voice or good looks that is)
running himself out. 8-)
it was number 11 batting day out as our man craig "channel 4 " dellow came in at 85-9 and hit 51 of not many balls. gaining us two batting points - almost three as he was caught in deep last ball of game needing a six to get us to 150. oh well done to
chris "quick text birdy-ive got another five for" carter ;-)

TAFFLON
01-01-1970, 01:00 AM
bloody ones.
nevermind, he will be back to play against us for sure as you guys seem to raise your game against us. we were due to play birchanger, but they called it off on thur night could not get a side out. they might be kicking themselves if they knew that we were missing no.s 1,2,3+5 in the batting order. means we right up behind you now. as not only did they concead the 26 points to us but them get docked another 20 (ouch!)

Just a thought. Why don't you bowl the big bloke more often - the medium pacer. He's very useful and he can bowl the right lengths at the death?

Just a thought mate
