View Full Version : Who does the best teas?
As is traditional during those quieter cricketing moments chat turns to reminiscing about that old chestnut "who does the best teas?". We all sign up for certain fixtures every year because we know the teas are going to be first rate regardless of the standard of the cricket.
So.. I thought we could say a big thank you and give a pat on the back for the clubs and individuals that provide them.
The rules are simple.
Give the name of the club and division they play in.
Why you enjoyed the teas.
Be sure to name the persons responsible for excellent teas if you know who they are. Credit them.
If we get enough responses I'll start a poll and we can all vote for a winner.
I'll start by voting for Roding Valley division three and six. Not just good teas but first class company and always go the extra mile to make sure their hosts are well catered for. Don't know who does them but say thanks to them from me please, Dave or Seb. There are other clubs that come close but for me teas is about more than just £30 spent on good food. Well done lads

Thanks Paul - our top class tea lady is Dee Venus - I'll pass on your comments as soon as possible.
I have to say the tea's in the HECL are very good from my experience, I haven't come across any that I have been dissappointed with and it's veyr difficult to chose one that stands out. If I had to chose I would have to highlight in particular Thorley and Thaxted for both teas and company.

Played in a Village Cup game at High roding earlier this season and i would say their teas have to be one of the best ive had in the HECL.

Paul Smith chairman HBCCHave to agree there. We gave the ladies in question a round of applause and a big thanks after our fixture there this year.
Well done to Matching Green.

When I originally saw this subject at the beginning of the season I thought it was a v dangerous issue.......however several of the Little Munden players were v impressed with Stansted II's tea this weekend.....more like a professional wedding buffet type spread.......

Another vote for Stansted from us. Not only a really high-quality tea (chicken wraps, burgers, sausages, Eton Mess for dessert) but lots of it, and thanks for inviting the wives, mums and kids who travelled with us to share it.
If the Fair Play Award is struggling for nominations again (is it?) then why not give the award to the club with the best tea since generous hospitality is all part of the ethos we as a league are trying to uphold.
