I have moved this submission to the forum rather than on the front page. The original post will be removed once people have had a chance to add their comments.

On the whole there are some very informed articles being posted on the site. The Webmaster will know how many he has to reject or edit. The match report submitted by Hockerill after their match against Much Hadham on 7th August verges on issues that at their worst should be aired privately and if they are to be posted they should be written in a more constructive manner. I don't know the history of their fixtures but if you want to inflame relations posting articles in this tone are the right way to go about it. Hockerill may know what it's like to win a trophy but they have a bit to learn about editorial diplomacy.

Note: ADDED BY PAUL: As webmaster I have chosen not to edit or comment on postings. I don't see it as my role. Where there is flagrant abuse of the site I would consider intervening. I have also not chosen to publish a "terms and conditions" policy hoping that individuals will post sensibly with regard to their opponents and fellow team mates. If a club or individual are offended by anything published on the site I would attempt to use my discretion and if that failed would hand the matter over to the League Committee. I would remind everyone however that anything that is posted on this site is visible to all and reflects on both the league and your clubs.

Anyone posting must be aware that the laws of libel and slander apply equally to the internet as to printed material: it's still in the public domain. It may feel like a more informal method of communication but m'learned friends will not view it that way. This applies also to club websites: they aren't private, they're public - and libellous material could invoke an action. I've read far too many match reports in recent seasons which I would consider gross distortions of the truth. If individuals are either named or identifiable, then the report writer is laying him/herself wide open to action.

I agree that free and open debate is essential on the site but it must remain constructive.
