I agree - Good luck to all those clubs joining for 2008.

In a heated debate the motion was passed by 3 or 4 votes (dependant on where Duggie (Epping Forresters) sat  )

This really shows the strength of feeling against the Southerly expansion of the league and our Chairman really has to take onboard that sentiment and reflect.

I for one was surprised with the way the vote went after the debate. I recon that 3/4 of the speakers were against the expansion but the silent majority won through.

I would advocate a halt on any more expansion for a couple of years. Lets see what happens. You can bet you bottom dollar that several more Metropolitan clubs will be applying in 2008 and 3C and CH will want their other teams to join in ernest.

Be warned - I would hate for this league to renamed the Herts, Essex and Metropolitan District League in a few years time

Yes

Good luck to ALL the teams in Div 7

I also agree with Roasty that the strength of feeling against the southerly expansion needs to be taken seriously and i was also surprised the motion was passed.

It would be a good time to take stock but as the commitee says

If we want to put a league rule forward i.e a radius from a certain point, it only takes two clubs to propose and second it

Gentlemen,

As you maybe aware I have unfortunately stepped down as secretary from the Lords int Essex Cricket League with immediate effect Due to my brothers illness, Therefore the league requires a Secretary, Could you please ask around asap so I can help the new Secretary.

I wish to thank you all for your support over the years and wish you all the very best for now and the future.

The committee meet on the 12th November at a new venue ( Fords Newbury Park ) at 7:30, they will then inform me of the AGM date and I will be their to handover.

I also have to inform you that Chadwell Heath CC have been invited into a new league, although only 2 of our teams, we were going to stay in the Lords League with 2 teams but at our AGM last week it was decided to pull out of the Lords and enter our 1st xl into a Sunday league, I therefore on behalf of CHCC wish the league all the best for the future, CHCC members would like to express their thanks to all clubs over the past years.

With kindest regards

Steve Lugg

Unquote.

So basically you will have Chadwell Heaths 1s and 2s to play against next year in the 6th and 7th Div. I ask you - If you were a CH 1st XI player on a Saturday would you want to swap your Saturday for a Sunday game? I don't think so. I feel that CH have led us a merry dance here. A dance that they must have know about prior to attending our AGM.

Roasty and Gentlemen,

First of all a reply to Roasty, I resigned from the Lords Int Essex League as Secretary due to my Brother only having Months too live, my members did not at any time suggest to me before the AGM of the Herts and Essex or at CHCC Agm,what was going to happen, it was a surprise too me.

Gentlemen,

We at CHCC have resigned our membership to the Lords Int League, Just the same as Harlow Town did when they joined the league and like Harlow Town we will play in the Herts and Essex league with fairplay and with a team which will be on a par to all other teams in each of our divisions, I dont know why Roasty has a concern, but i think saying that I have lead your league a merry dance is way out of order.

Yours Truthfully and with respect to your league and members

Steve Lugg

A dance that they must have know about prior to attending our AGM.Why don't you read it properly before you make unfounded assumptions. It really is getting a bit much that this is being raised again. Where does it say that CH are going to be playing there 1st XI? Where does it say that they have deliberately pulled the wool to get into the HECL? The members have voted. The vote was won. At least have the courtesy to welcome them to the league and judge them once you have met them on the field.

I'm all for allowing free debate on the website and encourage it, but you are getting very close to accusing CH of lying and that is a very serious charge. I hope you would be able to substantiate it?

If you don't trust your committee or like the way in which the league is heading. Volunteer your time and take your place on the committee and help stear the league forwards. Otherwise live with majority or get involved and help move things the way you see that they should be.

I welcome all our new member clubs and look forward to playing them over the coming seasons. To me it's not just a matter of playing strength, I want to play against better players, rather that they uphold the traditions that we have in the HECL for fair play and the spirit in which the game should be played.

Paul, Steve and others,
If I've offended anyone unintentionally then I apologise, and reading your mail Paul I seem to have really shook your tree....

Also Paul, please read my post above dated 6th Nov wishing good luck to all clubs in Div 7 and a suggestion for our committee to ponder over regarding future expansion. At that point I had no idea of what happened at CHs AGM. I know that the HECL committee was unanimous in it's commitment for Div 7 comprising of the teams now voted in, but over 40% of clubs were strongly against, so when information that is relevant comes up it's right that it's aired and discussed.

Concerns were raised on the floor at our AGM about the strength of CH and this revelation is relevant. CH said it would be their 3rds, and their 4ths would be mainly Juniors (please correct me if I’m wrong quoting this Steve). I have never heard of a large club like CH disbanding their 1st and 2nd XI Saturday teams. Pretty unique I'd say. I feel that it’s naive to think that this won't have an effect on the make up of the teams CH put out on a Saturday. This information would have been very relevant and may have swayed others to vote against Div7. But we will never know. Like you say Paul, the vote was made... end of....

However, we have Steve's word that this momentous decision or idea was not known about at CH before their AGM....

Gentlemen,

CHCC entered this league to play and especially enjoy HECL league cricket, lets start and finish the 2008 season before anybody makes assumptions on us, but I will lay a bet with you that at the end of the season we will be given the thumbs up in all departments.

I'm looking forward to meeting new faces and some of the old clubs which I have fond memories. Lets look on the positive side of the beautiful game and end this small talk.

Regards

Steve Lugg

I am honoured you call me Churchill, to be compared to one of the country's greatest leaders is indeed humbling and i thank you, and good luck to you in Div 3 and your 2's in Div 7. Looks like Chadwell Heath could be quite useful, and i hear Albury have got Keith and a couple of others from Little Hadham, and maybe a couple from Much Hadham as well, could be a very tasty division indeed.

The lovable cuddly dog? Even better!!! Only played twice against Keith, got him caught and bowled 2nd ball the first time, think he got 139* the second time, and i went for 80 odd off 10 overs, swings and rounadbouts i guess, still we won both games, which was the main thing. He could get quite a few runs in that division, but i get the feeling that some of these teams will be stronger than some in Divs 4 & 5. Be interesting to see what happens with Chadwell Heath to be honest.

1 year we bowled Little hadham all out for 125 and 95 of the runs belonged to Keith some one you should always give the single to....

I think it was the last time we played him he was hitting sixes and taking 1 hand off the bat, when we got him out on 50, (and he was 195 not out the week before) I asked him why he kept taking is hand of the bat, Keith with a big smile told us he had fractured his Hand 3 weeks earlier.....

The man can bat

with regards CH i would still like to know how they are going to keep all those 1st team players at they club when other clubs will be approching them and offering saturday cricket..

bearski
11-11-2007, 06:57 PM
Yeah, that could be interesting, if their 1's are as good if not better than our Div 1 sides, it's gonna take them 5 seasons to get to Div 1, so their first teamers(if they play of course) will have 5 seasons of (i would imagine) beating everyone fairly easily. I guess only time will tell, it will(hopefully) be a couple of seasons till we play them, so at least we will know what to expect by then

I guess next year will be one of the biggest and could be the best in hecl's history.I mean the creation of a div 7 shows the league is growing and obviously expanding and the fact it has a great reputation for fair play etc i'm not surprised teams from further a field want to join in what is a great league. And from what i've read on the other threads it seems not all was happy with a new ball and a new division. So i guess we won't really know for a year if it has been a good idea.My only concern is from what i read and i maybe wrong but div 7 was for much younger arguably weaker teams? so what we they learn if there's 4/5 really strong teams like heath 3caps albury potter st etc smashing 400+ every week and bowling a team out for 50 odd?...........so roll on next may!!! :D 8) (i may be wrong with some of the teams i mentioned as i have'nt read every thread!! :P )
