Hello all typing this sitting in a bar in OZ o I hate my job.............

OK just got of the phone from my stand in skipper for our DIV7 team ......

What a shame that the Chadwell Captain won the toss, before the toss we explained to him that we had a load of young guys and this was their 1st year at League cricket no batting strength, but we will be giving all the lads a bowl today and try to bring them on in the hope that the batting will get better in time.

We are just looking to have a good day and give everyone a game.

So after winning the toss and armed with this information The skipper went back to the changing room had a word with his team mates then come out and told us he was putting us in to bat!!!!

All I can say is sorry to the Tea lady for making her rush because we tried to tell the skipper but he would not listen......

All The best for the rest of the season......

PS Abridge what a top bunch of guys..........

As captain of Nazeing second eleven I would just like to give hope to all of you in this division, we have so far had two excellent and close games, firstly against a young
Little Bardfield side and then against a more experienced Albury team. (incidentally
we lost both matches)

On both occasions the opposition were ultra friendly and the matches were played in excellent spirit. Thanks to both of those sides.

We expect to get a fair old tonking from the likes of Chadwell Heath and Three Caps
but that will not change the way we play the game.

Anyone playing us can expect a predominantly young side (except for me!) with
some good banter (Not sledging) and as much competition as we can offer.

See you all during the season.

Jeremy, whilst i sympathize with your position, i think 99% of teams would have done the same, you tipped your hand by telling him you were weak, he wins the toss and sticks you in, it's hardly surprising. Just don't tell them next time!!!

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the choices of the captain on the day, but I am pretty sure that there would have been a reason behind the decision to bat first.

We enjoy the game of cricket and I believe I probably speak for everyone when I say that no-one at CHCC want to turn up to a game that is going to be over in 2 hours.
As I have mentioned in a previous post I agree with the fact that yes we maybe a little strong for some of the teams in the lower division, but we have to start some ware and as it has been mentioned Let me just introduce you all to some of the team that play regularly on a Saturday.

The 1st team that played against Rickling Ramblers on Saturday 10th May.

Name Age Team last year
G Reynolds (cpt) 30 1st
D Finch 22 1st
Will J 17 3rd
P Maynard 18 3rd
S Baldwin 18 3rd
A Hedges 20 2nd
I Tobin 15 3rd
Mushy 31 2nd
G Hurrell 56 2nd
P Barnes 15 3rd
I Taylor 45 2nd / 3rd

I hope this help to show that we are not all first team players and that we mix the teams as best we can. I hope that we can only prove in time that we enjoy playing the game as much as anyone, and want to do so in the best of spirts.

Thanks

Hi All.

Can I just clear up something, The stand in captain told me as we went to the wicket to toss the coin that he had only a couple of bowlers and one injured player. I won the toss and asked the captain if I could have a quick word with my team, my team wanted to field, i then went into the dressing room and informed the Potter st team of which the reply was MOST IN FAVOUR in fact their was a shout of yes.

Wickets did tumble so i took off my opening bowlers and put on myself (slow arm bowler) and Mr G Corbin another slow arm bowler, unfortunatly more wickets tumbled so I took myself off after 4 overs and put on a 13 year old bowler he also took wickets, I tried to make a game of it but it was'nt to be. What else could I have done.

At the end of the game knowing they have had a long journey I offered them a beer match of which they sadly declined.

yours with the greatest regards

Sounds to me Luggy like your after that bowling trophy again ;-)

To be honest I am not sure many other teams would have done anything different

I will advise our 3rd XI skipper to put PS 2nd XI in when we play, we might actually have a chance of winning a game!.... although I suspect not as Jeremy will probably be back from his holiday/work by then:-(

i don't understand why anybody from chcc has to explain themselves for the team they put out or why they chose to bowl first???????!!!!!.they have entered a great league to play cricket, have fun and do the best they can!!! (sour grapes from the oppo maybe???)...you turn up to win and have a good game,if your oppo cpt gives something away then your going to exploit it!!!!!! :D :) :( :o  :? 8) :P

Potter there is giving something away and then there is telling the skipper look if we bat first the game will be over in 2 hours.

I remember all the talk prior to the start of Div 7 and I also remember the words youth and development bringing young lads on. So telling the skipper that you want to give your lads a bowl knowing they cant bat. I feel tipping the skipper the wink is a good thing to do however I understand what you are saying about winning at all costs and maybe from now on I will approach people in a different way and look on them all as people that are only in it for themselves and not think there could be other people out there who can see the bigger picture....... good luck in Div 4 keep working on your forward defensive......

New team this week all the young lads are not so keen now so i will have to bring the old boys out of mothballs that should help keep the game of cricket alive.........

Unfortuntately, not everyone is as honest, upstanding and non-slippery as I am so when it comes to the toss, you have to be brutal, to protect yourself!

I remember being turned over by Potter last year when Westmill played ASPs at our place. He took me for a complete fool and I felt very silly after we'd won. . . . . handsomely.

CHCC haven't done anything wrong and offering a beer match afterwards sounds awfully sporting to me and a lot of fun. Hope they offer us that!!!

Jez, might be an idea to look for a full time, permanent position in OZ???!!!

See you all soon

I'm not sure because it's working fine here on two different PC's and a mac powerbook. I can only suggest it's a caching or cookies issue.

Try refreshing the page a few times and if that fails let me know.

Just a note for any webmasters or anyone that wants to use the results or tables pages for your club website. You can find the relevant page by using the hecl.info url followed by /d1t.htm or d1r.htm where the 1 = division number and either t or r is results or tables. So d3t.htm would be division 3 table and the basic page can be found at www.hecl.info/d3t.htm

Any questions or help just ask.
