View Full Version : To shower or not to shower?
I saw this thread over on your site. A very difficult decision. If it were my club the questions would be about how secure the move would be and the potential for extending clubhouse facilities. Without those questions answered I can't see how you can make a decision.
As to going to the pub smelling of a goat!!! Its smelling of a duck I'm not keen on :DUCK

Interesting debate, and a very difficult decision. I would suggest that the length of lease should be your key determinant. You will not be able to access any sources of external funding at all with only five years; you'd need 20 at least, along with clear security of tenure.
As for the showers issue, High Beach CC have only basic facilities but clubs seem to enjoy playing there. I think most opponents wouldn't mind not showering for the chance to play at such a lovely ground; home players may be less keen...
Best of luck with your decision-making.

If you had the opportunity to move from an ugly to a beautiful ground, but the latter had no showers what would you do?
Would you want to play at a ground that had a dangerous outfield, but be able to shower after your magnificent 100 n.o or would you like to score your runs in a beautiful setting and go to the pub smelling like a goat? :-D

The builders in the club went over to have a look this week. They say that there is plenty of room to add showers and larger changing rooms with internal works only. This makes it a lot easier since we won't have to add to the thatched roof.
The mood in the club is swinging towards moving, though we are going to try and negotiate a rolling lease.
We lost our fist game of the season yesterday (though it was against Rickling). :-(
