With Walthamstow now ejected from the SNEL. Who may apply for the vacant position and what effect may this have on the league?

Some while ago prior to their being removed from the SNEL they appied to join the HECL. The application was rejected by the committee before any discussion took place as they fall outside of the stated boundaries defined by the HECL.

There have been many other similar rejections for the same reason over recent seasons.

I have been in touch with SNEL and Essex CCC several times this week, Originaly re Walthamstow members joining and later re the SNEL matter,
As a club High Beach have been approached by individuals from Walthamstow as
to joining HBCC as playing members,At this point no decision has been made re this application,
we will respond to Walthamstow directly when this final decision has been made.
Please visit SNEL and Walthamstows CC web sites for complete explanations re the SNEL matter.

I heard about this last thursday !!

I feel genuinely sorry for the vast majority of WCC members who had no connections to what went on but now have no cricket this year

As to replacements, there are a number of clubs i am sure will apply for the position from the T Ripp, Essex county and the HECL

As regards to Paul's reply, its an interesting one as some of these players will have played a significantly higher standard so i am not sure how that fits with the league rules

I can see Walthamstow ending up in the Essex County League next year

It does indeed seem very harsh to punish all members of a club for the actions of a few.

With Ongar's problems likely to come to a head as well, there will certainly be some change in the SNEL this winter.

I don't think it's any secret that one HECL club in particular is keen to apply again, having just missed out on a place last time, so it could be another busy close-season for the HECL as well.

We have now replied to Walthamstow CC turning down their offer of merger and also a bulk application of playing members to join. Its not what we want as a club, We were approached by an individual from Walthamstow, and dont know for sure if this approach came with the sanction of Walthamstow CC or not.

A merger! Blimey, that's a bit cheeky!

I agree with gladders, looks like the Essex County League is their only option.

Wow a merger ! I bet that was a bit of a shock !!

Any club that gets into the SNEL will have the whole ethos of the club changed as it becomes almost a semi pro set up where each xl has its own overseas player a much more aggressive form of cricket and of course the draw option.

Will be very interesting to see what happens in the coming months and who gets in
